The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Government Polytechnic, Nirsa stands as a vibrant centre of technical learning, committed to nurturing skilled engineers equipped with knowledge, integrity and professional competence. Mechanical Engineering, often regarded as the backbone of industrial development, demands both theoretical understanding and practical insight. Our department therefore strives to maintain a balanced academic environment where classroom learning is seamlessly integrated with laboratory practice, workshop exposure and industry-oriented training.

We believe that technical education must not merely produce diploma holders, but capable professionals who can contribute meaningfully to society and the nation’s technological progress. With dedicated faculty members and well-structured academic practices, the department continuously works to cultivate analytical thinking, innovation and a disciplined work ethic among students.

The department is supported by a committed team of faculty members who guide students in both academic and professional development. I am pleased to acknowledge the contributions of Mr. Shailendra Kumar (Lecturer, Senior Scale, M.Tech), Mr. Rakesh Ranjan (Need-Based Lecturer, M.Tech) and Mr. Deepak Kumar Gaud (Need-Based Lecturer, B.Tech), whose collective efforts strengthen the teaching and learning process in the department.

As the In-charge Head of the Department, I firmly believe that the role of technical institutions is to prepare students not only for employment but also for leadership in engineering practice. Our endeavour is to create an environment where curiosity is encouraged, knowledge is pursued with sincerity and students are inspired to uphold the highest standards of professional excellence.
